Protecting Dark Skies in Rural Nevada

Nevada’s towns and cities in rural areas can benefit from the economic diversification that is brought by the recreation economy and astro-tourism. We are committed in assisting stakeholders in the protection and promotion of this intangible asset.

Supporting State & Local Initiatives

We are thrilled with Governor Steve Sisokak’s signing of Nevada Senate Bill 52, which “establishes a voluntary, locally-led "Dark Sky Designation" program focused on protecting and enhancing Nevada's iconic night skies for their ecological, astronomical, cultural, and economic importance.

Lands Conservation

The protection and preservation of our natural, cultural and outdoor spaces continues on many fronts, as exemplified by the proposal to establish the Ave Kwa Ame National Monument, located in Southern Nevada’s Spiring Mountain region.

Dark Sky-Friendly Lighting in Boulder City

We support the implementation of best practices for outdoor lighting for the town of Boulder City, Nevada. Incorporation of these changes to local ordinances will ensure that nighttime illumination serves the health and quality of life of Boulder City residents and provide an example for other municipalities in Nevada to follow.
